About Aventis Solutions
Aventis Solutions is connecting exceptional engineers with the next generation of UK technology companies.
We’re currently partnered with four independent, VC-backed, high-growth UK technology startups that are building ambitious products across EnergyTech, FinTech, home services and AI & Software Engineering Consulting.
Each business is at a different point in its journey, but they have one thing in common: they're building rather than maintaining.
- New products
- New platforms
- New markets
- New technology
We’re looking to speak with exceptional software engineers who want to get closer to the technology, the product, and the people making the decisions.
Key Details
- Experience: Approximately 2 to 12 years of commercial software engineering experience since graduating university, with opportunities ranging from Software Engineers through to Principal and Staff level.
- Salary: Range starts from £60k to £250k - we can increase your current salary comfortably + Equity
- Technology: Modern engineering environments spanning Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Golang, cloud platforms, distributed systems, APIs, AI tooling and modern data technologies.
- Location: London HQs ranging from 2 days per week to 5 days per week; working models varying by company.
- Career Outlook: These are early-stage and scaling businesses where exceptional engineers can have an unusually large impact. There is genuine scope to progress into Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, Architect, or technical leadership positions as the companies grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Key Experience and Skills Desired
- Strong Software Engineering Foundations: Commercial experience building production software, with a strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, testing, APIs, databases, and modern development practices.
- Technical Ownership: We’re particularly interested in engineers who have moved beyond simply completing tickets and started taking ownership of systems, products, technical decisions, or significant engineering initiatives.
- Modern Technology: Experience with technologies such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Golang, React, Next.js, AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, APIs, Terraform, or distributed systems is highly relevant.
- Technical Problem Solving: You enjoy difficult engineering problems and are comfortable figuring things out rather than waiting for someone else to provide the answer.
- Product Mindset: You understand that great engineering isn't just about writing excellent code. You care about what you're building, who you're building it for, and why it matters.
- Technical Influence: For Principal and Staff level candidates, we're looking for evidence of influencing architecture, engineering standards, technical strategy, mentoring, or major product decisions across teams.
- AI Curiosity: Experience with AI, LLMs, machine learning or AI enabled applications is highly attractive, particularly for the AI and software engineering consultancy opportunity, but a genuine interest in where AI is taking software engineering can be just as valuable.
- Startup Mindset: Most importantly, you actually want to work in a startup environment. You enjoy autonomy, ambiguity, fast decision making, small teams, significant ownership and seeing the direct impact of your work.

Role Overview
Ultimately, you'll quickly get to know the people you're building with. You'll see the decisions being made. And you'll see the impact of what you build.
Depending on the business, you could be building technology that is changing how energy is traded and managed, developing financial products for a new generation of customers, or working alongside some of the UK's most ambitious companies to deliver AI and software engineering solutions.
You'll have the opportunity to influence architecture, challenge technical decisions, work directly with product and commercial teams, and help shape engineering culture as these companies scale.
For engineers earlier in their careers, this is an opportunity to accelerate far beyond the traditional progression path.
For experienced engineers, it's an opportunity to have the kind of influence that can be difficult to find inside a large organisation.
We’re hiring across four different companies, meaning we can explore which environment, technology stack, product and culture best matches your ambitions.
Full company profiles, detailed job descriptions, technology stacks, compensation and processes can be shared in advance of any call too.
