SYNQ | Founding Team | Equity-led
Private clubs do not simply sell access. They sell belonging. The strongest clubs become valuable because of the people inside them: who members know, who they expect to see, who introduces them to others, which groups they become part of, and whether the club gradually becomes part of their social life. Yet almost all club technology still measures the individual. Visits. Bookings. Membership tier. Events attended. F&B spend. Renewals. Very little measures the relationships forming between those members. SYNQ does. We use existing operational data to reconstruct the social network developing across a club, identify socially bonded and isolated members, quantify the commercial value of those relationships, and help operators deliberately create stronger member communities.
We are looking for a Managing Director — Private Clubs to build this vertical alongside the founding team.
The opportunity
Private clubs already understand intuitively that community drives value. A member who knows ten people when they walk through the door experiences a fundamentally different club from someone who knows nobody. The problem is that operators rarely have a systematic way of seeing that difference. SYNQ allows a club to understand:
- Which members are deeply embedded in the community
- Which members remain socially isolated despite regularly visiting
- Which members act as connectors between different groups
- Whether new members are successfully integrating
- Which events, spaces, activities and time periods consistently create new relationships
- Which members repeatedly encounter one another but have not yet formed persistent ties
- Where valuable communities are strengthening or beginning to fragment
- How social embeddedness changes visits, membership value and ancillary spend
- Which members look commercially healthy but remain socially vulnerable
- Where introductions or programming could accelerate belonging
The operating question changes from:
“Is this member using the club?”
to:
“Is this member becoming part of the club?”
Why this matters commercially
Across our existing analysis, socially bonded members:
- Attend 4x more
- Generate 2.4x the membership revenue
- Generate 1.9x the ancillary spend compared with isolated members.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
For a private club, that potentially affects much more than renewal. It can influence:
- F&B. Events. Wellness. Racquets. Golf. Introductions. Dwell time. Guest usage. Membership upgrades.
The social network becomes part of the commercial infrastructure of the club.
What SYNQ adds
SYNQ does not replace the club's membership system, booking platform or CRM. It sits above them.
Operational data → relationship network → social state → intervention → commercial impact
Once the network is visible, SYNQ can identify where the operator has an opportunity to strengthen it.
Through familiarity routing, members can be directed towards environments where they are more likely to repeatedly encounter familiar faces and gradually develop stronger social bonds.
That might mean:
- Particular events
- Dining periods
- Wellness classes
- Racquet sessions
- Golf groups
- Member introductions
- Interest groups
- Shared working periods
- Recurring programming
Community stops being entirely accidental.
Your role
You would build SYNQ Private Clubs from the ground up. Initially, this will be highly hands-on. You would:
- Secure the first 2–5 private club design partners
- Build relationships with founders, owners, CEOs, membership directors and club operators
- Identify multi-site groups and management companies capable of accelerating distribution
- Understand the membership, reservations, event, F&B and activity systems used by the sector
- Translate private-club behaviours into the SYNQ network model
- Help define private-club-specific signals, network states and interventions
- Work directly with operators to identify where stronger relationships create commercial value
- Help deploy familiarity-routing strategies
- Measure the impact on engagement, spend, member integration and membership economics
- Convert successful pilots into recurring enterprise relationships
- Build a repeatable SYNQ Private Clubs deployment playbook
- Build an initial commercial pipeline capable of exceeding £250k ARR
- Feed field intelligence directly back into the product team
The objective is not to build a consultancy. The first deployments should create the data models, integrations, interventions and operating playbooks that allow SYNQ Private Clubs to become increasingly productised.

Who we're looking for
You are likely already deeply embedded in the private club, hospitality or luxury membership ecosystem. You might come from:
- Private members clubs.
- Country clubs.
- Golf and racquet clubs.
- Luxury hospitality.
- Membership strategy.
- Club management.
- Multi-site operations.
- Hospitality technology.
- Member experience.
- Commercial partnerships.
More important than the exact title is what you can do.
Deep sector credibility
You understand why people join clubs, how club communities actually behave and why the best operators obsess over the social fabric of the membership.
A meaningful network
You can already reach founders, CEOs, managing directors, membership leaders, owners or investors across the sector.
Commercial instinct
You can connect something as intangible as belonging to measurable operational and financial outcomes.
Operator mentality
You are comfortable moving between customer development, sales, implementation, product feedback and strategy.
Founder energy
You want to create a new category rather than inherit a mature territory and sales process.
Founding economics
This is intended to be a genuine founding role. Equity: 8%, structured around long-term contribution and milestone-based vesting. The equity reflects the expectation that you are not simply selling SYNQ. You are building an enduring vertical inside the company: Customers. Relationships. Sector knowledge. Product requirements. Distribution. Revenue. Playbooks.
What success looks like
The first stage is successful when SYNQ can walk into a private club and show the operator something they have historically only been able to feel intuitively: the actual social structure of their membership.
They can see who belongs. Who doesn't yet. Where relationships are forming. Which environments create them. What those relationships are worth. And where the club can intervene to create more of them.
The long-term opportunity is to establish SYNQ as the infrastructure behind a question every private club ultimately depends on:
Are we simply managing members, or are we building a community they would find difficult to leave?
That is the vertical you would own.
