FP&A Manager
A leading organisation based in Shropshire is now seeking an experienced FP&A Manager to provide financial leadership and business partnering support to its UK manufacturing operation. Working closely with operational leaders and cross-functional teams, this role will drive financial insight, planning, performance improvement, cost control, inventory management and operational decision-making across the manufacturing environment.
Your new role
Manufacturing Performance & Business Partnering
- Partner with operational leadership teams to support performance reviews, forecasting, action planning and business decision-making.
- Provide financial insight into manufacturing performance, operational costs, inventory levels, backlog, risks and opportunities.
- Support monthly performance reviews, explaining variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain operational scorecards and KPI reporting.
- Support transformation and continuous improvement initiatives through financial analysis and benefits tracking.
- Build strong relationships across manufacturing, supply chain, service and commercial functions.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Planning
- Support forecasting and budgeting activities covering labour, overheads, materials, inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Work with operational stakeholders to understand capacity, productivity, efficiency, backlog and production assumptions.
- Challenge assumptions and identify risks and opportunities.
- Produce scenario modelling and business cases for investments and operational improvements.

Inventory, Costing & Controls
- Manage inventory-related month-end processes, including valuation, provisions, write-offs and adjustments.
- Ensure accurate product costing, BOMs, routings and item master data governance.
- Maintain standard costing processes and support inventory optimisation initiatives.
- Lead inventory counts and support audit requirements.
- Strengthen controls to minimise inventory losses and improve accuracy.
Reporting & Analysis
- Analyse manufacturing costs, variances, margins, inventory performance and operational KPIs.
- Provide reporting on backlog, demand trends, production constraints and financial impacts.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, inventory adjustments and costing changes.
- Deliver clear and actionable financial commentary to operational stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a manufacturing finance analyst.
- Ensure reporting accuracy and build capability across costing, inventory and operational finance processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Support projects focused on operational efficiency, inventory management, costing improvements and business transformation.
- Drive enhancements to reporting, controls and decision-support processes.

What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
- Strong manufacturing finance experience.
- Excellent knowledge of:
- Inventory accounting
- Standard costing
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Routings
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Manufacturing variances
- Experience of forecasting, budgeting and operational performance analysis.
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous people management or analyst development experience desirable.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- ERP system experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience working within changing or transformational operational environments.
