F,P&A Analyst
6-month Fixed Term Contract
Most analyst roles in finance focus on keeping things running. This one's about making them better — automating our reporting and building the fixes that make the numbers trustworthy, every month, without the manual patch-up.
About World of Books
We're on a mission to become the Planet's Bookstore. Founded in 2002 to give books a second life, we've grown into the world's largest seller of used books — reaching millions of customers across the UK, US and Hungary. We're a certified B Corp, and we've scaled profitably with investment from Livingbridge since 2021.
The Opportunity
Our FP&A team produces reliable management reporting and board-level analysis, but as the business has grown, so has the complexity behind it. This six-month FTC gives us dedicated capacity to automate reporting, simplify processes, and strengthen how data flows between our financial reporting and trading platforms.
You'll report to our Senior FP&A Manager, take ownership of reconciling outputs between Vena (our CPM platform) and our trading/BI systems, and eliminate the manual steps that slow the team down. Financial systems experience is what matters most here — if you've owned Anaplan, TM1, Adaptive Insights, OneStream, Hyperion or similar, the skills transfer directly.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
- A track record of finding manual steps in reporting and planning, and building automation to eliminate them.

- High attention to detail — you sense-check your own outputs before they reach senior stakeholders.
