Private Equity Backed Renewable Energy Investor & Asset Owner
The Role:
To lead the delivery of FP&A, taking ownership of strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and covenant compliance across the business. You will provide the CFO, board, and shareholders with the financial insight required to make decisions, ensuring forecast accuracy and contingency plans to deliver the business's strategy and targets, while demonstrating strong analytical, planning, and project management skills.
A central part of the role is bank-facing reporting and compliance: producing accurate, timely lender deliverables and covenant compliance certificates, and being the reliable point of contact that maintains lender confidence across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the annual budgeting process across all portfolio companies, working closely with regional management teams to develop robust financial plans
- Coordinate the annual strategic planning process, consolidating regional business assumptions and financial forecasts into a comprehensive consolidated budget
- Prepare detailed financial models and projections to support investment planning and operational decision-making
- Manage the monthly and quarterly rolling forecasting process, ensuring forecasts accurately reflect changing business conditions and operational performance
- Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and actual performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and key business drivers in detail
- Support the CFO with long-term strategic planning, through building models and defining key assumptions and plans
- A broad range of ad hoc projects and tasks to serve the needs of a growing, global business
- Prepare quarterly bank reporting requirements, including updated financial forecasts, scenario analysis and covenant tests, and act as primary point of contact liaising with banks and investors on reporting, covenant, and information requests
- Model and monitor debt covenant compliance, headroom, and forward projections at asset and SPV level
- Support asset-level cashflow forecasting and liquidity analysis
- Work closely with the Asset Management team to monitor operational and financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across the portfolio that support value creation
- Own and manage multiple BI initiatives and projects, analysing large datasets to generate actionable recommendations for finance, management, and business users
- Leverage AI platforms to streamline and automate analyses throughout the business
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains
- Build and lead high-performing finance teams, coaching and developing talent across FP&A and the wider finance organisation, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Manage the monthly financial reporting process across assigned portfolio companies, ensuring consistent reporting standards and that all regional financial submissions are completed to the agreed monthly timetable
- Coordinate the collection and consolidation of financial information from regional finance teams and local accountants across international operations
- Build strong working relationships with finance and operational stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions, influencing effectively in a matrixed global environment

Experience & Qualifications:

- Advanced financial modelling experience, including complex models and scenario/sensitivity analysis, forecasting and budgeting, with exposure to cloud planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle PBCS, or similar)
- Proven experience producing high-quality management and Board-level reporting
- Significant FP&A leadership experience ideally gained within renewable energy — solar, BESS, and wind — or other capital-intensive, asset-heavy sectors, including leading group planning cycles (budget, forecast, long-range planning)
- Strong experience supporting corporate transactions, refinancing, or joint ventures
- Exceptional stakeholder management, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence CFO/Executive and senior leadership
- Experience driving finance systems implementations, reporting improvements, or transformation initiatives
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
- Highly analytical with the ability to translate complex data into clear insight
- Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving global business
