FPGA Engineer | New York or London
Boerboel is looking for an experienced FPGA Engineer (5+ years of professional FPGA engineering experience) to join our technology team in New York or London.
We are an established quantitative trading and technology firm operating across global markets, with teams in New York, Chicago, London, Malta and the Cayman Islands. Our technology is central to our trading business, spanning high-performance systems, market connectivity, execution and FPGA development.
This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to work directly with FPGA engineers, software developers and quantitative traders, designing and deploying FPGA solutions into a live electronic trading environment.

What you’ll do
- Design, implement and deploy FPGA solutions across our trading businesses
- Build new FPGA applications from the ground up, including RTL design, synthesis, place & route and static timing analysis
- Develop and maintain robust testing and verification systems
- Work closely with software engineers on APIs and hardware/software interfaces
- Optimise systems for performance and overcome hardware/software constraints
- Take increasing ownership of major FPGA applications and market-specific technology
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years’ professional FPGA engineering experience
- Strong VHDL and Python
- Experience with high-speed design and protocols
- Strong understanding of FPGA development tools and workflows
- Experience working in a Linux environment
- Expertise in at least one of: networking, computer architecture or verification
- Intermediate C/C++
- Strong engineering and coding practices, with experience working collaboratively within a technical team
