Fractional CFO (1 day a Week) | VC-Backed Deeptech / Hardware | Remote, UK-Based
The Client
Harmonic is partnering with a VC-backed deeptech business building highly technical hardware, now preparing to go out for its Series A. Recent changes in the business mean they need an experienced pair of hands to come in and take the raise to completion alongside the founder/CEO.
The Role
- Five days per month, three months initially, with real potential to extend through Series B.
- The data room is prepped and the financial model is built, so this is not a build-from-scratch brief: it is about getting up to speed quickly, owning the numbers in the room, and sitting alongside the founder/CEO through investor meetings as the credible finance voice.
- You will also help scope out the team plans.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
