Fractional Chief Financial Officer (Advisory)
3–6 Days Per Month | Hyper-Growth E-Commerce | Advisory Role | Up to £1,500 Per Day | Midlands
OVERVIEW
AtkinsClarke are delighted to be supporting the search for a Fractional CFO to work directly with the founder of a hyper-growth e-commerce business. This is a genuinely strategic advisory appointment. The turnover/sales have scaled fast, the group structure has grown and evolved alongside it, and the finance function hasn't yet caught up. The founder is looking for a heavyweight finance leader, a truly strategic business partner, who can come in on a fractional basis, bring strategic clarity and direction to a complex structure and whilst influencing key decisions.
COMPANY
Our client is a fast-scaling, entrepreneurially led e-commerce business that has grown rapidly and as is often the case at this stage, has outpaced the sophistication of its underlying group structure and finance capability. The founder remains highly hands-on and commercially sharp but recognises the business now needs proper strategic financial input: someone who can bring structure, tax efficiency and rigour whilst driving top and bottom line performance.
OPPORTUNITY
Working directly with the business owner, the Fractional CFO will provide senior strategic finance input on a flexible, advisory basis, typically 3–6 days per month depending on the demands of the business. Key areas of focus include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
