SJC Partners are recruiting on behalf of The Fractional CFO Group to support a successful founder who is looking to appoint an experienced Fractional CFO to work across his group of businesses.
The role is fully remote, with flexibility around both the number of days and day rate. The founder is keen to find the right person and get them started as soon as possible.
The main focus will be on one of the group’s established businesses, which is now actively preparing for an exit. The business is approximately £20m turnover and £5m EBITDA. The founder is keen to move towards a sale as quickly as possible, so he is looking for someone who has genuine, hands-on experience getting a business ready for an exit and can help guide the business through the process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- You’ll be involved in refining the exit strategy
- Identifying and addressing any potential due diligence issues
- Ensuring the financials and wider business are presented in the strongest possible way
- Supporting buyer Q&A
- Working closely with advisers throughout the transaction
There is also an M&A element to the role. The group is actively looking at acquisitions, generally in the £1m–£7m EBITDA range, so you’ll have the opportunity to review target businesses, assess their financial health and quality of earnings, support acquisition decisions and assist with lender and investor discussions.
There is a third, younger business within the group which is working towards profitability. Here, the focus will be on providing financial oversight, improving reporting and KPIs, strengthening the financial infrastructure and holding the management team accountable for performance.
