Part-Time or Fractional COO
Consultant / Part-Time or Fractional Chief Operating Officer to coach our existing COO
Day rate / Salary: Negotiable
Hours: Office based – Andover, Hampshire
Hours: We are open to discussing the right level of engagement, however we anticipate this being in the region of 1 day per week
Location: Shenton House, Andover, with UK-wide operational oversight
Engagement: Consultancy, part-time or fractional arrangement
Start date: ASAP
Remuneration: Competitive day rate or agreed fractional package, dependent on experience
Shenton Group Overview
Shenton Group is seeking an experienced operational leader to help us develop our internal operating model, one of the to scale the business in our accelerated growth journey, while also helping us shape the longer term requirement for a full-time permanent COO.
With more than 40 years’ experience, Shenton Group supplies, installs, hires and maintains critical power systems including generators, UPS systems, CHP systems and associated switchgear. The business has a strong reputation, a mature financial position, national operational reach, and ambitious plans to strengthen performance, service delivery and scalability.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a senior operator who can bring value to our leadership team by translating business strategy into practical operational execution. The successful individual will help shape the operating rhythm of the business, strengthen accountability, improve cross-functional alignment, and support leaders across engineering, maintenance, projects, rental operations, QSHE and commercial delivery.

This may suit an experienced consultant seeking a defined operational scaling and transformation assignment, or a fractional / part-time operator who can add value to our current operations as well as assist us in finding a full time permanent, COO. In parallel to playing a key part in selecting the right permanent hire for the business you will contribute to the leadership team and embed measurable operational outcomes.
Key Priorities
- Help define the longer-term COO requirement
- Review our internal processes, identify opportunities for efficiencies and re-engineer to optimise the workforce.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, systems, policies and performance frameworks.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear operational plans, KPIs and delivery rhythms.
- Provide leadership and structure across engineering services, maintenance, projects, rental operations and support functions.
- Drive operational excellence, service consistency, customer satisfaction and commercial performance.
- Strengthen accountability, communication and collaboration across senior and middle management teams.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities across systems, processes, resource planning and delivery models.
- Support the C-Suite with data-driven operational insight, risk visibility and practical recommendations.
About You
- You will have operated successfully at COO, Operations Director, senior operational leadership, or equivalent consultancy level.
- You will be comfortable moving between board-level strategic discussion and practical operational delivery.
- You will bring strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to connect operational decisions to business performance.
- You will have experience leading multi-site or field-based operational teams, ideally within engineering services, critical infrastructure, technical services, facilities management, utilities, power generation or a related sector.
- You will be a confident communicator who can build trust, challenge constructively and create momentum across teams.
- You will bring resilience, humility, emotional intelligence and a clear bias for action.

What We Are Looking For
We are open to discussing the best structure for the engagement. This could be a defined consultancy assignment, a part-time leadership role, or a fractional COO arrangement. The priority is for you to be an experienced operational leader who can quickly understand the business, work effectively with our existing leadership team, and help build the operational capability required for the next stage of growth.
