We are looking for an experienced Fractional Financial Controller to strengthen our financial management, reporting and controls and provide the Managing Director with reliable financial information and commercial insight.
This is not a bookkeeping role. The successful candidate will provide senior oversight of the existing finance function, improve processes and controls, and proactively identify financial risks and opportunities.

- Own and review the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Review P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance and key reconciliations.
- Produce clear reporting against budget, prior year and forecast, explaining significant variances.
- Ensure financial information across Xero, Odoo and other systems is accurate and reconciled.
- Provide the Managing Director with concise financial analysis and recommendations.
Cash Flow, Budgeting & Commercial Performance
- Maintain budgets, rolling forecasts and forward-looking cash-flow forecasts.
- Monitor working capital, including debtors, creditors and stock.
- Monitor gross margin and identify areas of margin erosion or opportunities to improve profitability.
- Provide financial modelling and analysis to support significant commercial decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Establish effective cash-flow, budget and variance reporting.
- Improve visibility of gross margin, profitability and working capital.
