Chalk Hill Group are supporting an innovative Technology company based in London, who are seeking a Fractional Finance Director to join their leadership team on an interim basis.
The Role
The successful Finance Director will work closely with the leadership team to ensure the finance function is operating effectively, while strengthening financial systems, controls and reporting to support investment decisions and the company’s product roadmap. The role will be hands-on and strategic, requiring someone comfortable moving between high-level commercial planning and detailed operational finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Finance team, introducing efficient and scalable processes and appropriate financial controls.
- Improve the quality and usefulness of financial information, providing clear insight to the leadership team.
- Ensure UK and US entities remain compliant across tax, audit and statutory reporting.
- Work closely with People, Commercial and R&D teams to develop a fully costed commercial and operational strategy for 2027.
- Monitor financial performance, challenge assumptions and hold the business to account.
- Manage key external stakeholders including banks, advisors and auditors.
- Support the leadership team with investment decisions, cash management and runway planning.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.

About You
We are looking for a commercially minded, hands-on finance leader who has operated successfully within dynamic, high-growth or start-up environments.
You will ideally have:
- Extensive experience leading high-performing finance functions within a start-up, scale-up or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Proven leadership experience, including building and developing finance teams.
- Strong commercial and strategic finance capability, alongside the ability to get into the detail when required.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, delivery-focused approach with a genuine “get things done” mentality.
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience working with US and/or international entities would be advantageous.
- An openness to using AI and technology to improve processes, decision-making and productivity.

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Interim CFO / Fractional CFO / Finance Director to make a genuine impact within an ambitious technology business. The company is looking for someone who can commit to 2–3 days per week, with flexibility around the hybrid working arrangement.
Rate: £600–£700 per day, inside IR35.
