People & Culture | Organisational Growth | UK Operations | Clean Energy Technology

Ready to work directly with a Founder & CEO to shape the team, structure and culture behind a growing clean energy business?

Are you a seasoned People professional who knows how to support a founder-led scale-up through its next stage of growth?

Can you turn evolving business priorities into clear roles, effective hiring and practical people processes, while keeping everyone moving in the same direction?

Do you want the autonomy of freelance work with the opportunity to work closely with the CEO and senior team on decisions that matter?

We build batteries that think. We build software that decides. Now we’re building the team and culture to take us further.

At Threefold, our Optima™ platform sits behind a business’s meter and works out, half-hour by half-hour, when to buy energy and when to use it. The result is up to 35% off electricity bills and up to 30% off carbon emissions, with zero disruption to how that business actually runs.

We’re backed by Tier 1 partners including Octopus Energy, Bryt Energy and SUNOTEC. We’re live across UK hospitality and commercial property, with wider international growth underway.

Your focus will be firmly on the UK: partnering with our Founder & CEO and senior team to manage our evolving organisational structure and bring new colleagues into the business as we recruit several roles during Q4.

This is a business where priorities evolve, decisions move quickly and your contribution will be visible. There will be challenging moments, alongside the rewards of helping shape a growing company in a fast-paced, highly innovative sector and asset class.

If you enjoy working closely with founders and turning growth plans into a team that can deliver them, we’d love to hear from you.

Who We Are

Threefold is an energy technology company with a growing UK business and an international footprint.

We build intelligent battery storage and energy management technology that helps businesses reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions while making better use of available energy.

Our systems are behind-the-meter, plug-and-play and independent of solar. They require no planning permission, no construction programme and no operational downtime. We charge when energy is cheap and clean, and discharge when it is expensive and carbon-heavy, displacing fossil generation at peak.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We’re led by Founder & CEO Luke Gamble, alongside an interdisciplinary leadership team drawn from energy, engineering, technology, finance and real estate.

Between them, they’ve structured gigawatts of renewable transactions, scaled commercial teams across continents and built businesses from zero.

As our UK team grows, we want to bring the same care and rigour to our organisational structure and people experience that we bring to our technology.

What We Stand For

  • Evidence over claims: We don’t do generic offsets or greenwashing. Everything we deliver is measured, audited and certified.
  • Zero disruption: Our technology fits around the customer, never the other way round.
  • Pace with purpose: The energy transition has a deadline. We work like it does.
  • Partnership, not supply: We’re in the business of sharing the value we create.

Your New Adventure

This is the first dedicated People hire at Threefold, with a UK-centric remit and a close working relationship with Luke and the senior team.

Your immediate priority will be to help the business navigate its next phase of growth: shaping an evolving organisational structure, supporting several planned Q4 hires and making sure new colleagues join with clear responsibilities, expectations and support.

Partner with the Founder & CEO

You’ll work closely with Luke to understand the business goals and translate them into practical people priorities. You’ll be a trusted sounding board, bringing sound judgement, constructive challenge and hands-on support as plans develop and decisions need to be made.

Shape the Organisation as It Grows

You’ll help the senior team clarify roles, reporting lines, responsibilities and capability gaps. As new colleagues join, you’ll ensure the structure supports the work that needs to get done and gives people clarity about how they contribute.

Support Q4 Hiring

You’ll help define the roles we need, shape how we interview and assess candidates, and support the senior team in making considered hiring decisions. You’ll keep the process moving while ensuring each appointment supports the wider business plan.

Make Joining Count

You’ll develop onboarding that helps new colleagues understand the business, build relationships and become effective quickly. From the practical essentials to clear objectives, you’ll make joining Threefold feel purposeful from day one.

Build Practical People Foundations

You’ll put proportionate UK people processes in place, covering contracts, right-to-work checks, policies and employee relations. You’ll help managers navigate their responsibilities and know when specialist advice is needed.

Support Performance and Culture

You’ll establish clear expectations, useful feedback and honest conversations, helping the business retain its pace and entrepreneurial spirit as the team grows.

About You

You’re an experienced People professional working independently, whether you call that fractional, consultant, interim or portfolio.

You’ve supported a founder-led scale-up before and understand the importance of building a productive, trusted relationship with the CEO. You can listen, advise, challenge constructively and turn agreed priorities into action.

You’ve helped businesses adapt their organisational structure as they grow, bringing clarity to roles and responsibilities without creating unnecessary layers.

You’re comfortable supporting recruitment and onboarding alongside the wider People remit. You can move between a conversation about organisational priorities and the practical work needed to welcome a new starter.

You have strong working knowledge of UK employment law and practice, with the judgement to manage day-to-day matters and recognise when further expertise is required.

You’re commercially aware. You understand the business goals and can explain how your recommendations will help achieve them.

You’re comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities. Working closely with a founder can bring demanding conversations and quick changes of direction. You bring composure, perspective and a practical way forward.

You’re direct, warm and resilient, with the confidence to contribute your own view and the flexibility to work collaboratively. There’s no established HR team behind you, so you’ll enjoy taking ownership and delivering hands-on.
