Fractional Interim Financial Controller | Luxury E-Commerce Start Up | Remote (2-3 days / week) | (Outside IR35)

Harmonic are delighted to be partnering, on an exclusive basis, with an early-stage luxury e-commerce marketplace, in the search for a Fractional Interim Financial Controller (Outside IR35) to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function during a pivotal pre-launch period. This is a rare opportunity to join a genuinely distinctive business at the ground floor, backed by patient, long-term capital, with a potential path to a permanent, more strategic role as the business scales.

The Business

Our client is building a global luxury e-commerce marketplace that connects independent luxury boutiques with customers all over the world. The founder is a highly respected figure in the global luxury goods world, bringing with them an exceptional network of brand relationships built over a career at the very top of the industry. That pedigree, combined with a clear point of view on where luxury is heading sits at the heart of the proposition.

Financially, the business is at an exciting inflection point: modest turnover in 2026 as it prepares to launch, with revenue projected to grow towards £15m in 2027. The current team of around ten is investing heavily in personalisation and AI including a tool provided to partner boutiques to help them run their own businesses more efficiently. Crucially, the business is funded for the long term through the founder's family office, meaning a genuine focus on building lasting value rather than sprinting towards an exit.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Role

This is a hands-on, tactical role reporting into the finance leadership, ideally suited to someone who can take the books off the leadership team's hands and move them forward without needing day-to-day direction. It is very much an "arms and legs" appointment in the best sense: owning the numbers, keeping the cycle running cleanly, and freeing up the wider team to focus on launch.

This FC will need to own the regular cycle, taking full ownership of accounts payable, month-end, the P&L and balance sheet, and a monthly management pack for the leadership team. The pack format is still being shaped, and the team are flexible on presentation provided the underlying information is right.

Over time, as the group's transfer pricing and indirect tax strategy are finalised alongside its professional advisers, there is genuine scope for the role to broaden into something more strategic making this a strong platform for the right person to grow with the business.

Main Duties

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping, working through and correctly coding, allocating and reconciling historic 2026 transactions captured in Xero
  • Own the accounts payable process end to end, processing supplier invoices and payment runs accurately and on time
  • Run the month-end close, producing a clean P&L and balance sheet each period
  • Prepare and deliver a monthly management pack that gives the leadership team clear visibility of the numbers
  • Reconcile the books against source records, keeping everything accurate, well-organised and audit-ready
  • Establish and maintain a reliable, repeatable monthly finance cycle that runs smoothly without day-to-day oversight
  • Over time, support broader finance activity as the group's structure, transfer pricing and indirect tax strategy are finalised
