About the Role
We're recruiting a Fractional Sales Lead for a specialist technology consultancy with a strong 14+ year track record in data, database design and data management — including a long-standing, multi-year transformation engagement with a leading maritime benchmarking organisation, where the consultancy helped shift the business from an insurance-centric to a data-centric operating model. It also supports private equity clients on investor-facing data and reporting platforms.
Having grown almost entirely through reputation and referral, the consultancy is now ready to build a formal, repeatable new business capability — starting deliberately small. This is not a high-volume outbound role. It's a low-volume, high-value, relationship-led search into a narrow pool of specialist organisations.
What you'll be doing
- Mapping and segmenting the addressable market, prioritising market data, benchmark and price-reporting organisations
- Identifying and prioritising a small number of high-probability tier 1 accounts
- Opening doors with C-suite, MD and senior technology decision-makers
- Building commercial and technology profiles for target accounts
- Developing tailored value propositions rather than selling a fixed service menu
- Running consultative discovery alongside the technical and delivery team
- Progressing opportunities into proposals, statements of work and paid discovery
- A smaller secondary focus, especially in the first 90 days, on private markets and investment management technology

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
- Senior commercial experience selling into market data, benchmarks, indices or price-reporting organisations highly desirable
- Existing senior relationships within that ecosystem highly desirable
- A proven track record selling complex technology or consultancy propositions, not just a packaged product highly desirable
- Experience commercialising data, APIs, subscriptions or information products — important
- Commodity or trading market knowledge valuable
- Maritime or freight sector experience is useful, but not essential
- Private markets or investment management relationships are a useful secondary benefit
