About Little Shadow
Little Shadow is a London-based studio specialising in the design, creation and blending of bespoke graphics, visual effects and animation across television and advertising. Our team has been crafting visuals for industry-leading productions for over two decades, combining creative collaboration with a keen eye on pipeline, process and emerging technology.
We’re currently looking for additional freelance support across a number of shows in production, working alongside our team across traditional VFX and emerging AI workflows.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Freelance 3D Generalist with strong Blender and Substance Painter skills to join our team.
We need someone experienced in live-action VFX, who is comfortable taking assets and environments through the full 3D pipeline and integrating their work with photographed plates.
A key part of the role will be building environments, buildings and other assets from supplied reference material, as well as working with LiDAR/3D scan data captured on location. A strong eye for photorealism, scale, materials and matching real-world photography is essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
