Role Overview
TKS Training is recruiting a specialist freelance Assessor to support the delivery of the ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Advanced Fire Safety Design and Building Risk Management.
Job Details
- Location: Remote | United Kingdom
- Position Type: Freelance associate
- Hours: Flexible, ad-hoc caseload
Important Eligibility Requirements
Please apply only if you hold all of the following:
- MIFireE membership
- CMIOSH membership
- A recognised assessor qualification, such as CAVA, A1 or D32/D33
- At least ten years’ experience in an engineering industry
- Experience assessing regulated vocational qualifications
- Advanced occupational competence in fire-safety design and building-risk management
This is not a general fire-risk-assessment, firefighting, health-and-safety or construction-assessment role. Applicants must demonstrate advanced technical competence across the qualification.
Responsibilities
- Assess technical portfolios against ProQual requirements
- Review fire strategies, technical reports and professional evidence
- Conduct professional discussions and observations where required
- Provide technically sound assessment feedback
- Make and document defensible assessment decisions
- Record assessment activity and evidence through QualsDirect
- Participate in standardisation and external quality-assurance activity
- Support experienced professional learners remotely

Required Technical Knowledge
Applicants should have substantial direct experience covering areas such as:
- Fire-safety strategies and design intent
- Internal fire spread and compartmentation
- Façades and external-wall systems
- Higher-risk buildings
- Building Safety Cases and regulatory compliance
- Fire-risk and building-risk management
- Performance-based fire-safety principles
- Professional practice and technical reporting
Desirable Experience
- Previous ProQual approval
- Experience assessing Level 6 or higher qualifications
- QualsDirect experience
- Experience supporting experienced professional candidates remotely

Working Arrangement and Fees
This is a freelance, self-employed associate position with an initially flexible and ad-hoc caseload.
Payment will be based on an agreed fee per registered candidate rather than a guaranteed daily rate. The fee, expected activity and scope will be confirmed in writing before work is allocated.
