Location: Leeds and wider West Yorkshire
Contract: Self-employed/freelance
Hours: Completely flexible
Potential earnings: Up to £300–£400 per day

We are an independent chartered surveying practice based in Leeds. Due to increasing demand, we are looking to develop a long-term working relationship with an experienced freelance residential building surveyor.

This opportunity offers genuine flexibility. You can choose the days you work, decide how many instructions you accept and fit the work around an existing role, family commitments or your own surveying practice. There are no fixed working hours, compulsory working days or minimum number of instructions.

The Role:

You will undertake RICS Home Survey Level 2 and Level 3 inspections across Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Harrogate, Huddersfield and the wider West Yorkshire area.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking residential property inspections in accordance with the RICS Home Survey Standard
  • Preparing clear and comprehensive Level 2 and Level 3 reports using our established templates
  • Providing detailed photographs and inspection notes
  • Identifying significant defects, risks and appropriate further investigations
  • Submitting completed draft reports within the agreed turnaround period
  • Providing occasional post-survey clarification where required
  • Maintaining a professional approach when dealing with clients, vendors and estate agents

No mortgage valuations, sales targets or business-development work are required.

Requirements:

  • MRICS, FRICS or experienced AssocRICS surveyor
  • Demonstrable experience undertaking RICS Home Surveys
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction and building pathology
  • Experience inspecting traditional, altered and extended properties
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Own vehicle, laptop and appropriate inspection equipment
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
