Freelance Conceptual Creative Copywriter | Gambling/Sports (Better/Poker)

Transmission is one of the fastest-growing production companies in the UK, working with national brands to conceptualise, film and edit broadcast commercials and social media campaigns.

We’re looking for an experienced Conceptual Creative Copywriter available to start as soon as possible through to early/mid-October to collaborate with our creative team on an upcoming campaign for a gambling/poker client.

We already have a few creative territories and ideas in development. We’re looking for someone who can get under the skin of those ideas, challenge and develop them, bring their own thinking to the table and help turn the strongest routes into compelling campaign work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborate closely with our existing creative team to develop and elevate campaign concepts.
  • Take established creative ideas and run with them, finding the sharper thought, stronger narrative. Better line or unexpected execution.
  • Bring your own ideas and creative perspective where it adds value.
  • Develop conceptual copy, campaign lines, scripts and creative executions across TVC and OOH.
  • Help ensure ideas work both as a broader campaign platform and as individual executions.
  • Work collaboratively with design and production as ideas develop towards final execution.
  • Bring a strong understanding of tone, language and cultural nuances of gambling, sports betting and ideally poker.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

  • Explicit professional creative experience in commercial campaigns in gambling and/or sports betting advertising. Poker experience is a major bonus.
  • Strong conceptual creative/copywriting experience – we’re looking for someone who can develop ideas, not simply write copy to a brief.
  • Experience working across TVC and static and motion OOH assets.
  • A collaborative mindset: confident enough to challenge an idea, but equally happy to build on someone else’s.
  • Someone who can take a creative territory and run with it, while knowing when to listen and when to contribute.
  • Familiarity with UK ASA/CAP compliance boundaries, particularly within gambling advertising.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual thinking and relevant campaign work.
