London | Freelance Contract | Hospitality, Food, Drink & Lifestyle
Lala is building its freelance creative network ahead of several exciting projects currently in development, and we're looking for a brilliant Content Creator who can shoot, edit and deliver high-quality social-first content across a range of brands.
We have new opportunities in the pipeline and, if they land, we want to already know the people we trust to pick up a camera and get started. There is also the opportunity for the right freelancer to begin supporting some of our existing clients, so this could develop into a regular ongoing relationship rather than a single project.
What we're looking for
We need someone who can do the whole content journey.
Not simply someone who arrives at a venue, captures a few clips on a phone and sends over raw footage.
We want someone who can walk into a restaurant, bar, venue, event or experience, understand the brand, work out what needs capturing, shoot it beautifully and then take that footage away and turn it into genuinely usable social content.
You'll be comfortable shooting both quick, reactive social content and higher-quality footage using professional camera equipment where appropriate.
Just as importantly, you need to be a strong editor.
The goal is that the footage comes back ready to use, not requiring someone else within Lala to completely re-edit it afterwards.
What you'll be doing
Depending on the client and project, you'll be responsible for:
- Attending client locations, events, launches and content days.
- Capturing high-quality photography and video content.
- Shooting on professional camera equipment as well as creating appropriate phone-first social content.
- Creating Reels, TikToks, short-form video, social assets and supporting stills.
- Editing your own footage from start to finish.
- Turning one shoot into a useful bank of content rather than a handful of isolated assets.
- Working from brand and social strategies to make sure content supports a clear purpose.
- Storyboarding and planning shoots where appropriate.
- Finding opportunities while you're on location rather than rigidly following a shot list.
- Speaking confidently with clients, venue teams and other stakeholders.
- Feeding useful information back to the Lala team when you spot opportunities, launches, events or stories we should know about.
- Working alongside our Social Media Manager and wider team to continually improve the output.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

One brand shouldn't look like another
This is particularly important to us.
We don't want every client to suddenly inherit the creator's personal editing style. A taco restaurant shouldn't look like a premium drinks brand. A neighbourhood hospitality venue shouldn't look like an event company. Each should have its own visual language, pace, personality and energy.
We're looking for someone with enough creative range to understand a brand and adapt accordingly. You should have your own creative point of view — but not a rigid "house style" that gets applied to every client.
You'll probably be a good fit if you...
- Have a strong portfolio of social-first video and photography.
- Are an excellent editor as well as a confident shooter.
- Can use professional camera equipment confidently.
- Equally understand when fast, lo-fi or phone-shot content is the right creative choice.
- Understand TikTok, Instagram Reels and current social content conventions.
- Have a strong instinct for storytelling.
- Can spot moments and ideas without needing someone to dictate every shot.
- Have experience creating for hospitality, food, drink, lifestyle, events or other consumer brands.
- Have energy and confidence when working on location.
- Are comfortable speaking directly to clients and venue teams.
- Are reliable, quick and commercially minded.
- Understand agency deadlines and can turn around edited work efficiently.
- Can take a creative brief and make it better.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Hospitality experience is particularly valuable because you'll often be working within live businesses and interacting directly with our clients and their teams.
How to apply
Please don't spend hours writing us a formal cover letter.
Show us what you can do. Send us:
- A short introduction.
- Your portfolio / showreel.
- Your day rate.
- Your availability over the next few months.
- The kit you normally shoot with.
- Examples of 2–3 pieces of work that you think best represent the kinds of clients described above.
And if you really want to get our attention, we'd be very happy to see a short piece of content that introduces you and your work.
We're looking for creative judgement, editing ability, versatility and personality, not simply the biggest production setup.
If you're the sort of person who can drop into a venue, immediately see the content opportunities and have brilliant edited footage back with us quickly, we want to hear from you.
