Company Description
Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) is an international research and advocacy organization dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of global armed violence. AOAV focuses on strengthening laws and standards governing conventional and improvised weapons, promoting recognition of the rights of victims and survivors, and addressing the root causes of armed violence in affected countries. A key pillar of AOAV’s work is the Global Explosive Violence Monitor and related research on manufactured weapons, improvised explosive devices, and firearms. AOAV uses rigorous data and analysis to inform advocacy efforts with governments and non-state actors, regularly presenting evidence at the United Nations, the UK Parliament, Chatham House, and other influential forums. The organization’s overarching ambition is to help make the world safer by reducing harm from armed violence and amplifying evidence-based solutions.
Role Description
The Freelance Digital Communications and Data Impact Consultant will support AOAV’s mission by enhancing the visibility, clarity, and reach of its research and advocacy using digital tools and data-driven insights. This contract role is on-site and based in London, working closely with AOAV’s research and advocacy teams to translate complex datasets and findings into accessible, compelling digital content.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
