This is a full-time remote Freelance Drone Pilot (Subcontractor) role focused on surveys, mapping and aerial media. The pilot will plan and execute safe drone flights, including pre-flight checks, risk assessments and airspace reviews in alignment with CAA regulations and company procedures. Day-to-day tasks include capturing high-quality aerial imagery, video and survey data, following project briefs and adapting flight plans to local site conditions. The role also involves coordinating with clients and site contacts, interpreting project requirements, and providing clear updates and feedback. The pilot will manage data transfer, basic post-flight quality checks, and maintain equipment, batteries and firmware to ensure readiness and reliability.
Qualifications
- Strong operational skills in Drone Piloting and Piloting, with proven experience in field deployments.
- Solid understanding of Drones and UAV systems, including platforms, payloads and flight planning tools.
- Relevant Training in commercial drone operations, including current CAA certification or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety practices, risk assessment and UK airspace rules (PDRA01 experience preferred).
- Ability to interpret survey and mapping briefs, with familiarity in basic photogrammetry or GIS workflows an advantage.
- Competence in handling digital media files, and basic post-processing of imagery or video using standard software.
- Clear, professional communication skills and ability to work independently across varied sites and conditions.
- Access to suitable transport for site travel across Yorkshire and flexibility to operate in different environments and permitted night hours.
