Role Description

This is a freelance, on-site Electronic Engineer role based in Whimple. The Electronic Engineer will design, develop, and review electronic circuits and assemblies for high-reliability PCB, cable, and box-build projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Creating and updating schematics
- Supporting NPI activities
- Performing testing and validation of electronic systems
- Providing engineering input into DFM and production readiness
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on the manufacturing floor
- Collaborating with production, quality, and test teams
- Maintaining clear documentation to support traceability and compliance
The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ensure designs meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electronic Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Circuit Design and practical Electronics, including schematic capture, component selection, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with Testing of electronic assemblies and systems, including test plan development, fault-finding, and validation against specifications.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly processes, cable and loom production, and electromechanical integration is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of IPC standards, aerospace or medical device quality practices, and working within ISO9001 or AS9100D frameworks is an advantage.
- Ability to read and produce technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, test reports, and change control records.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a disciplined approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Relevant engineering qualification.
