Role Description: The Freelance Estimator will support the team by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential and commercial construction projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Reviewing architectural drawings and specifications
- Conducting quantity take-offs
- Sourcing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Compiling detailed cost breakdowns

The role involves collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to clarify scope, update estimates based on design changes, and support tender submissions. The estimator will also help identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks to uphold project quality and profitability. This is a freelance, hybrid role based in Wakefield, with a combination of on-site meetings and work from home.
Qualifications:
- Strong estimating and cost analysis skills for construction projects, including experience with quantity take-offs and budget preparation.
- Proficiency in construction-related software and tools (e.g., estimating software, spreadsheets, project management systems).
- Solid understanding of building materials, methods, and relevant industry standards or regulations.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, suppliers, and clients.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize multiple bids or projects, and meet deadlines in a freelance environment.
- Previous experience as an estimator or in a similar construction role; experience within residential and commercial sectors in the UK is beneficial.
- Relevant education or qualifications in construction, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field are preferred.
