Our client is looking for a Financial Manager (Operational or Project Finance) to join their projects office based close to Sunderland. The client is an end client operator in the renewable sector, primarily working on developing, building, and operating renewable process plants.

They are a growing company and are now looking for a financial manager with a background in either operational company finance or project finance. The candidate would report directly into their CEO, formerly acting as the CFO.

START: August / September 2026
LOCATION: Sunderland, UK (Hybrid working – 3 days onsite, 1-2 from home)
WORK PATTERN: Four days working per week – five days from 2027 onwards
IR35: Outside of IR35
HOURS: 32 hours / 4 days per week

The client is ideally looking for a manager who has a background in financial management, ideally working with SME, projects, or engineering companies. There will be some links to corporate finance within the organisation.

Essential Skills:

  • Financial management background in operational finance functions
  • Working history in company finance for operational day-to-day management
  • Ideal background would be working with SME or projects delivery companies
  • Planning, strategy, and financial review
  • Duties including management of managed accounts, corporate reporting, day-to-day financial management of the business

Beneficial Skills:

  • Ideally an early working history for a financial auditor, financial services firm
  • Client side, asset owner experience would be very beneficial
  • Any experience with national and international stakeholders
  • Risk, Cost, and Financial analysis management

The client has advised they have an immediate requirement, with the option to interview successful candidates over the next two weeks. The ideal start date will be either August or September 2026.
