Role Description
The Freelance Geopolitics Analyst will conduct in-depth research and analysis on international affairs, regional dynamics, global power structures, and emerging geopolitical trends, with a particular focus on issues relevant to Polity & Society’s thematic areas.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Monitoring global developments
- Synthesizing complex information
- Producing clear, well-structured analytical pieces such as briefings, essays, reports, and commentaries
The analyst will collaborate with the editorial team to refine topics, ensure quality and accuracy, and align output with the platform’s intellectual standards and audience needs.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lahore, requiring regular presence at the workplace for meetings, research discussions, and collaborative projects.

- Strong background in international relations, political science, geopolitics, or related social sciences, with demonstrated ability to analyze complex global and regional developments.
- Excellent research skills, including source evaluation, data gathering from diverse media and academic outlets, and the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information.
- Advanced writing and editing skills, with experience producing analytical articles, policy briefs, or essays for academic, think-tank, media, or similar platforms.
- Capacity for critical thinking, structured argumentation, and clear presentation of nuanced perspectives to both specialist and general audiences.
- Familiarity with contemporary global issues across politics, society, economy, and international affairs, and an interest in interdisciplinary social science perspectives.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with editors, peers, and contributors in an on-site team setting.
- Relevant academic degree (e.g., in International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or related field); postgraduate qualifications or prior analytical/research experience are an advantage.
- Comfort with digital tools for research, writing, and publication; familiarity with data visualization or basic quantitative methods is beneficial.
