Job Description: Senior Freelance Graphic Designer

This role is for a senior-level freelance graphic designer to create a full wraparound book cover for a unique project centered on a 26-year archive of audio field recordings from Rainbow Gatherings. The book, titled "Sounds from the Rainbow," is under 50 pages and will be printed at 8 x 10 inches. The design should evoke a beautiful, inviting, vintage, and psychedelic aesthetic, incorporating supplied imagery and creative collage elements. The project requires a designer with a strong sense of visual storytelling and the ability to translate archival and community themes into a compelling cover that stands out on shelves.

Deliverables

  • Design a full wraparound cover (front, spine, back) for an 8 x 10 inch book, including placement for title, author, and back cover text.
  • Integrate a supplied banner image (rainbow over meadow) as the central visual theme.
  • Optionally incorporate a provided image of people holding hands in a circle on the back cover.
  • Utilize additional supplied artwork or photos as needed.
  • Creatively blend collage elements such as wildflowers, songbirds, trees, and acoustic instruments (folk harp, lyre, guitar, hand drums, ukulele).
  • Ensure the front cover features the book title prominently and the author’s name in a smaller font at the bottom.
  • Reserve a clear area on the back cover for a barcode and include the provided back cover text.
  • Deliver print-ready files meeting professional publishing standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
