Freelance Interpreter Applications

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance interpreter applications based in United Kingdom.

As a freelance interpreter joining a global talent pool, you will play a critical role in bridging linguistic and cultural barriers across diverse international industries. Operating in a flexible remote or hybrid environment, your work will directly facilitate seamless cross-border communication during high-stakes conferences, regulatory audits, and internal corporate events. You will provide specialized real-time interpretation—spanning simultaneous, consecutive, and liaison modalities—for clients in sector-leading fields such as technology, life sciences, healthcare, and finance. Working on a project-by-project basis, you will have the autonomy to choose engagements that align with your background and expertise while making a measurable global impact.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver accurate, real-time oral interpretation across simultaneous, consecutive, or liaison modalities depending on specific project scope and client requirements.
  • Facilitate effective multilingual communication during high-level engagements, including regulatory audits (e.g., pharmacovigilance, medical devices), international conferences, corporate workshops, HR meetings, and specialized interviews.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, objective neutrality, and professional integrity in alignment with global interpreter Codes of Ethics.
  • Adapt quickly to specialized domain-specific terminology across key industries such as technology, life sciences, finance, and healthcare to ensure precise terminology transfer.
  • Manage flexible remote setup and scheduling to participate effectively in scheduled sessions across different time zones.

Requirements

  • Native-level fluency in at least one language other than English, paired with excellent verbal communication skills in English.
  • 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience in specific interpretation modes (simultaneous and/or consecutive), with lower years of experience considered for liaison and consecutive engagements.
  • Proven track record across key engagement types, including global conferences, corporate training, regulatory/medical audits, or legal and HR proceedings.
  • In-depth understanding of standard interpreter Codes of Ethics and professional conduct practices.
  • High adaptability, active listening skills, and domain-specific knowledge in key industries such as life sciences, technology, or finance.
  • Reliable remote working environment equipped with high-speed internet, professional audio equipment, and a quiet background for remote video/audio interpretation.
