Company Description
GreatThings is a marketing consultancy focused on helping businesses turn ambitious ideas into practical, results-driven realities. The consultancy emphasizes a results-first, no-fluff approach, ensuring purposeful strategies and execution. GreatThings focus on delivering excellent work to clients who value collaboration, innovation, and clear impact.
Role Description
GreatThings is working with a premium fashion retail group that is building a more varied and elevated content engine for paid media. They have developed creative wireframes across outfit flat lays, how-to-wear content, product and portrait pairings, product-detail stories, editorial mosaics and their icons range. They are looking for a freelance designer, who can occasionally attend meetings in Manchester, with a strong eye for typography, layout and visual composition to turn these directions into polished, brand-consistent assets and a repeatable production process.
You’ll work closely with the internal brand and performance marketing teams, taking briefs from initial references and wireframes through to approved creative. The work spans graphic design, typography, static and motion assets, short-form video editing and AI-assisted concept development. Every output should feel considered, premium and distinctly rooted in the brand, while retaining accurate product details.
What you’ll do
- Design and artwork paid-media assets from agreed wireframes, including product layouts, carousels, editorial compositions, typographic treatments and format variants
- Use strong typography and layout skills to create clear visual hierarchy across assets, with particular attention to type scale, spacing, alignment and consistency.
- Work confidently across Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, to develop, refine and prepare creative to a high production standard.
- Edit existing footage and still imagery into short-form motion assets, combining considered pacing with clear, restrained and well-crafted typography.
- Build and refine image and video prompts for concept exploration, then retouch and finish selected outputs to production standard. Keep a clear record of prompts, references and successful outputs so treatments can be repeated by the wider team.
- Adapt approved creative across placements including 4:5 feed and 9:16 Stories/Reels, maintaining typography, hierarchy, safe areas and strong product visibility across every format.
- Retouch and refine imagery where required, ensuring product colour, materials, details and proportions remain accurate.
- Check product names, materials, features, imagery rights and AI artefacts before submitting work for Brand approval.
- Organise working files, editable templates and final exports clearly so the team can easily refresh and adapt creative after the contract ends.
- Train the Brand and Performance Marketing teams where required on the templates, design systems, editing workflows and AI prompt methods developed during the project.
- Bring fresh thinking to creative reviews. Keep up with developments across fashion, editorial design, typography, paid social and digital content, and proactively suggest relevant ways these could be interpreted for the brand.
- Regular check in meetings to discuss upcoming briefs & sign off on all assets by the team before they go live.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
