MetFilm School is one of the largest film schools in Europe, running undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across our London, Leeds and Berlin campuses as well as a portfolio of non-accredited courses. Expressions Of Interest
We are actively seeking experienced freelance lecturers to work on our portfolio of degree courses and we are looking for a range of specialisms. There are a wide range of courses delivered at MetFilm School in London that include acting, filmmaking, the business of film and content creation and we want a strong and varied pool of lecturers to reflect this diversity of approach.
This is an exciting opportunity for active industry professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping to develop the next generation of filmmakers.
About The Role
MetFilm School London is expanding its hourly paid freelance tutor pool in specific subject areas to meet the wide range of expertise needed to deliver programmes at the London campus. We are looking for candidates from an industry and preferably teaching background, depending on particular module needs as we continue to expand and innovate our curriculums. We are currently recruiting lecturers in the following areas:
- Content creation (YouTube, social media platforms)
- Cinematographers (scripted and/or unscripted)
- Self-shooting Directors
- Producer-Directors
- Documentary filmmakers
- Multi-skilled filmmakers who are confident working across multiple areas of production
- Post-production
- Unreal Engine and VFX
- Sound recording
- Production management
- 1st Assistant Directors
- 1st Assistant Camera

What You’ll Do
- Deliver engaging practical workshops, seminars and tutorials for undergraduate filmmaking students.
- Support students in developing projects from concept through to final delivery.
- Teach filmmaking skills across multiple stages of production.
- Mentor students during individual and collaborative production work.
- Provide clear, constructive formative and summative feedback.
- Assess student work in line with programme learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive and collaborative learning environment.
- Draw upon current industry practice to ensure teaching remains relevant and professionally informed.
- Work collaboratively with the course team to maintain high academic standards and an outstanding student experience.
You should be comfortable supporting students in areas such as:
- Story development and research
- Creative development
- Producing and production planning
- Directing
- Camera operation and cinematography
- Location sound
- Documentary and factual storytelling
- Editing and post-production workflows
- Professional production practice
What You’ll Bring
- Significant professional experience within the content, film, television and wider screen industries.
- A degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous teaching, mentoring or training experience is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to motivate, inspire and support students with a wide range of backgrounds and experience.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a teaching team.
- A commitment to inclusive teaching and an excellent student experience.

Contractual Hours: Variable
Teaching is delivered across two to three semesters depending on the specific degree course, with opportunities for additional teaching as the programme continues to expand.
BIMM provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching. If you already have a graduate or postgraduate qualification then this will be advantageous, but it’s not a barrier.
