Expressions Of Interest
Performers College is expanding its hourly paid freelance lecturer pool in specific subject areas to meet the wide range of expertise needed to deliver programmes at the Brighton campus. We are looking for candidates who are industry experts, preferably with a teaching background, who are passionate about sharing their knowledge to develop the next generation of performers. We are currently recruiting lecturers in the following areas:
- Acting for Camera
- Spoken Voice
- Dance for Actors
- Voiceover
- Motion Capture for Actors
- Movement and Devising for Actors
- Commercial Dance
- Alexander Technique
- Singing 1-1 teachers
- Musical Directors
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver engaging, high-quality practical classes that develop technique, creativity, and performance skills.
- Plan and implement scaffolded learning to support learners with diverse abilities, experience, and starting points.
- Be aware of and responsive to individual learner needs, including student support plans, adapting teaching to ensure inclusive access and progress.
- Provide practical, studio-based training aligned with current industry practice.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear, constructive feedback to support development.
- Stay informed of industry trends and integrate relevant practices into teaching and curriculum design.
- Encourage and support learners in developing confidence, independence, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance curriculum content and delivery.

What You’ll Bring
- A graduate or postgraduate qualification in a performance subject
- A graduate or postgraduate qualification in education is advantageous but not essential.
- Significant teaching experience (at the higher education level is preferred but not essential).
- Significant industry experience.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- A flexible approach to work.

Contractual Hours
Variable
Teaching is delivered across two semesters with opportunities for additional teaching as the programme continues to expand. The University provides internal training and professional development for all lecturers, especially those new to teaching. If you have a graduate or postgraduate qualification then this will be advantageous, but this is not a prerequisite.
