We are looking for an experienced Freelance Market Research Analyst to support a growing pipeline of B2B market research projects and trend reports. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated researcher, and there is a regular stream of work available for the right person.
About the Role
You will be creating insightful market reports on B2B markets, primarily covering products and materials within the building, construction and home improvement sectors and their supply chains. You may also be offered work on bespoke projects we undertake on behalf of clients.
The work will typically involve gathering information from multiple sources, analysing available data, assessing market dynamics, estimating market sizes, identifying trends, and producing clear, professional reports with evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.
The work is intellectually engaging and varied, requiring analytical thinking, good judgement and excellent business writing skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct primary and secondary market research for building materials, product systems and products across construction and home improvement industries’ supply chains.
- Gather and validate information on companies, competitors, products and markets.
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative data from many different sources to identify trends, opportunities and market dynamics.
- Estimate market sizes using appropriate research methodologies.
- Draw clear, evidence-based conclusions from research findings.
- Produce well-structured, professional market research reports for clients.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can work independently with minimal supervision and deliver consistently high-quality work. You will need to have:
- Prior experience of market research, analysis, or other analytical roles.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the construction industry, building and building product markets, and the factors influencing them.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written English with the ability to produce concise, professional reports.
- Experience of interpreting large amounts of information from multiple sources and presenting clear commercial insights.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- The ability to estimate effort accurately and deliver work on time.
- Experience of using Companies House and industry or government data sources.

This role is suited to someone who is naturally curious, commercially minded and enjoys turning information into actionable insight. You should be comfortable working autonomously, but comfortable working as a member of a project team when required, and taking ownership of projects from initial brief through to the final report.
