Its team also delivers advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate performance, photorealistic renders to support visualization and communication, and expert design and casting consultancy. Technical writing and specification services further support clients in documenting designs clearly and professionally, making Core Mechanical Design a comprehensive partner for product development.
Role Description
This is a part-time, remote Freelance Mechanical Engineer role. The engineer will develop and refine 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, ensuring designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Daily tasks include:

- Performing Design for Manufacture (DFM) assessments
- Conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Iterating designs based on test results, client feedback, and project constraints
The role involves collaborating with internal teams and clients to:
- Define requirements
- Prepare technical specifications
- Provide design and casting consultancy support
The engineer will also assist with:
- Project planning
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Contributing to continuous improvement in design processes and standards
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with proven experience in product or machine design.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
- Experience in Machine Design and the application of engineering principles to real-world components and assemblies.
- Background in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, and design iterations.
- Project Management skills to plan tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM), materials, and common manufacturing processes; FEA experience is highly beneficial.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation, reports, and specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work independently.
