Freelance Media Designer
We are looking for Freelance Media Designers to add to our contractor pool for short-term work.
Location: Remote - UK
Role Overview
Media Designers are responsible for creating visual content for a wide range of digital and print-based learning projects. They produce graphical artwork, develop visual assets for implementation, and apply visual styling within e-learning authoring tools to support blended learning solutions. Media Designers are skilled at interpreting creative briefs and transforming them into engaging, high-quality visuals, interactive layouts, and learning experiences that function effectively across responsive and adaptive frameworks.
Media Designers work comfortably within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate closely with Art Directors, Instructional Designers, and other internal stakeholders. They are proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and possess a strong understanding of digital and print formats, design principles, and best practices for online learning.

The role requires the ability to deliver high-quality visual solutions using a variety of techniques, including image manipulation, vector illustration, graphic design, and typography where applicable. A strong understanding of AI tools, along with UI and UX design principles, is essential for creating modern, effective, learner-centered experiences. Media Designers should be familiar with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices, ensuring that all visual and interactive content meets applicable accessibility requirements and provides an equitable experience for all users.
Responsibilities
- Creating artwork for a wide range of digital platforms (e.g., cropping and re-touching photography, vector illustration and designing diagrams)
- Creating printed material for blended learning programmes
- Sourcing media from stock libraries / client brand sites
- Preparing graphical templates using Photoshop and Illustrator
- Creating and preparing graphical assets for digital development
- Developing bespoke content for authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise and Dynamo
- Ensuring technical and accessibility requirements are met (e.g., Colour contrast, page weights, etc.)
- Following project processes and metrics set out by the Art Director and Program Manager

Skills and knowledge
- High creative flair
- High proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD)
- Strong handle on typography, illustration, layout, and space
- Good understanding of digital UI/UX
- Good understanding and application of brand/style guidelines
- Professional, dynamic and positive attitude
- Keen eye for quality and exceptional attention to detail
- Solid time-keeping skills
- Ability to work in a team or on own initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in professional English-speaking environments with commercial awareness
- Good understanding of MS Office tools (Teams, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Word)
