About the role
We’re looking for an experienced freelance Motion Designer to join our medical communications team on an ad hoc basis. You’ll be bringing healthcare and scientific content to life for our pharmaceutical clients: thought leader videos, infographic-style animation, data visualisation and explainers.
It suits someone with a real feel for timing, weight and craft, a sharp eye for detail, and who’s happy juggling several projects in a busy, collaborative team where work regularly changes hands.
What you’ll be working on
Most of what you’ll animate is for healthcare professionals and pharma clients. Typical projects include:
- Thought leader and expert interview videos, with lower thirds, animated supers, supporting graphics and data overlays
- Infographic-style animation that makes clinical data, statistics and study results clear and accurate
- Mechanism of action and disease explainers
- Content for congresses, symposia and educational meetings
- Animated elements for e-learning, presentations and digital resources
What you’ll do
- Design and animate in After Effects, from storyboard and styleframes through to final delivery
- Turn complex scientific and clinical information into clear, well-paced motion
- Work within client brand guidelines and medical accuracy requirements
- Turn around amends from creative leads, medical writers, account teams and clients
- Keep several projects moving at once, each on schedule
- Build clean, organised project files that anyone on the team can open and work in
- Hand over and pick up work in progress smoothly

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’ll look for in your reel
For us, craft beats volume and flashy effects every time. We’ll be looking for:
- Timing. Movement that’s well paced and lands with the voiceover or speaker, with holds that give people time to read the data.
- Weight. Considered easing, anticipation and follow-through, so elements feel like they have mass rather than sliding about on default keyframes.
- Craft and finish. Clean transitions, consistent spacing and polished typography, with nothing popping or jittering.
- Attention to detail. The kind of care that catches misaligned type, off-brand colour or a data error before it ever reaches review.
How we work
Projects move between designers as priorities change, so flexibility really matters here. You’ll be someone who can:
- Handle several projects at different stages without letting quality slip
- Work well in a team, share what you know and take feedback constructively
- Hand work over cleanly, with well-named, well-structured files and clear notes on status and open amends
- Pick up someone else’s project quickly, get to grips with its structure and match its style without rebuilding from scratch
- Stay calm and adaptable when briefs, deadlines or priorities shift
