SJC Partners is supporting a specialist acquisition search firm in appointing a freelance multilingual Business Development Associate to support European acquisition mandates.
Our client works with private equity firms, family offices and acquisitive corporates to originate high-quality, off-market acquisition opportunities across Europe.
This is a flexible freelance role, paid on an hourly basis, with workload typically ranging from around 0.5 to 2 days per week depending on live projects.
The Role
The role will focus entirely on contacting the owners and senior decision-makers of European businesses that have been identified as potential acquisition targets. The successful individual will explain, in a professional and sensitive manner, that an investor or corporate acquirer has asked the firm to approach them regarding a potential acquisition, with the objective of securing an initial meeting with a Senior Director who will take the conversation forward.
This is not a traditional new-business sales role. There is no requirement to sell a service or win new clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
