Role Summary
Experienced Smart Hands Technician to join a small, hands-on infrastructure support team working primarily at a central London customer site, with occasional travel to other customer locations such as Chatham.
The role will provide hands-on support for enterprise-style communications rooms, data centre infrastructure, and customer network environments.
Responsibilities

- Fault diagnosis
- Break-fix activities
- Hardware replacements
- Hands-and-eyes support for remote engineering teams
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently within a small team and a live production environment, following operational procedures and change controls.
The role is primarily based around normal business hours, with occasional weekend or out-of-hours maintenance work when required.

- Current security vetting or clearance
- Experience in enterprise data centre
- Familiarity with Cisco & Dell HPE infrastructure
- Knowledge of data centre documentation, rack layouts, CMDB/DCIM systems, and infrastructure standards
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management knowledge
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Hands-on experience in a Smart Hands, Data Centre Technician, or Infrastructure Support role
- Experience supporting live enterprise network and server infrastructure
- Fibre optic installation, patching, and troubleshooting, including multimode fibre and optical diagnostics (Tx/Rx power and DOM)
- Cat6/Cat6A copper cabling installation, patching, and fault-finding
- Knowledge of structured cabling infrastructure, including Krone panels, patch panels, and cable management
- Experience with server and network equipment break-fix, including RMA processes and hot-swappable component replacement
- Hands and Eyes support for remote infrastructure and network engineering teams
- Understanding of rack-mounted servers, switches, routers, and associated data centre hardware
- Experience working with LTO tape libraries and archive environments
- Ability to troubleshoot methodically and isolate physical infrastructure faults
- Experience using ServiceNow and Microsoft Dynamics, or similar IT service management/customer systems
- Strong communication and coordination skills when working with multiple agencies, contractors, carriers, and customer teams
