Axon Neuro supports adults and children living with brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions to rebuild independence in their own homes. We are building a connected multidisciplinary associate team, and we are looking for occupational therapists to be part of it.
The role
Occupational therapy sits close to the centre of reablement, because the aim is function in real life rather than exercises in a clinic. As an occupational therapy associate you would work with people in their own homes and communities, focused on the everyday activities that matter to them: washing and dressing, kitchen tasks, managing a routine, and getting back out of the house.
You would hold clinical responsibility for your own assessments and recommendations, and set the direction of the occupational therapy input for the people you work with.
What the work can involve
- Functional assessment in the person's own home and daily environment
- Activity analysis and grading, so a valued task is broken into achievable stages
- Recommending equipment, minor adaptations, and changes to layout or storage
- Energy conservation, fatigue management, and rebuilding a workable daily routine
- Practical strategies for memory, attention, planning and sequencing as they show up in daily tasks
- Upper limb function considered through the activities the person wants to return to
- Goal setting and review, with reports shared with the person, their family and any case manager

Who you would work alongside
Rehabilitation assistants and support workers who carry your programme into everyday practice between visits, alongside physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists and activity practitioners. Where a person's goals span several disciplines, the team works to one shared plan rather than parallel ones.
The associate arrangement
- You set your own fees and coverage area and work to your own schedule.
- A profile on our website lets clients and referrers find you by availability and location and book a free 15-minute video meet and greet, so you decide whether you are the right fit before anything is agreed.
- A central operations team handles enquiries, coordination and safeguarding escalation, so your time goes on practice rather than administration.

Requirements
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Post-qualification experience in neurological rehabilitation, or a strong interest in moving into it
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance
- Appropriate business car insurance when supporting clients using your own vehicle
- You set your fees and choose your coverage area
- Work around your own schedule with full autonomy over your clinical practice
- Home and community work, with the time to assess someone in the environment they actually live in
- Backed by a central support and operations team
- Direct working relationships with the wider multidisciplinary team
