Senior Operations Consultant - Digital Marketing Agency
Freelance £500 daily (2-3 days per week.)
Hybrid London
I am delighted to be supporting a growing, founder-led agency business with the appointment of a Senior Operations Consultant on a freelance basis.
This is a hands-on, senior-level opportunity for an experienced agency operator who can step into a business, quickly understand how it works, identify where things can be improved, and help put practical solutions in place.
The engagement is expected to be part-time, approximately 2–3 days per week, with 1–2 days per week in a London office.
Working closely with the Founder and Operations leadership, you’ll provide experienced operational guidance across the business, reviewing existing systems and processes, identifying inefficiencies and risks, and helping build a more scalable and effective operating model. The emphasis is on practical improvement rather than bureaucracy. You’ll be expected to challenge constructively, prioritise effectively and help turn recommendations into sustainable changes.

Key areas of responsibility
- Audit existing operational processes, systems and workflows
- Identify risks, inefficiencies, duplication and unclear ownership
- Review how teams manage projects, tasks, information and handovers
- Advise senior leadership on operational priorities and business structure
- Design and document practical, repeatable processes
- Improve accountability, decision-making, approvals and escalation routes
- Review client and employee onboarding/offboarding processes
- Strengthen quality assurance and process adherence
- Review operational documentation, governance and internal controls
- Identify sensible opportunities for automation and systems improvement
- Develop clear, prioritised improvement plans
- Support implementation and adoption of agreed changes
- Build internal capability so improvements are sustainable long term
You’ll likely have experience of:
- Working with founder-led, entrepreneurial or fast-growing businesses
- Auditing and improving agency processes and workflows
- Understanding the commercial and operational pressures of client delivery
- Designing scalable systems without over-engineering them
- Advising and constructively challenging senior stakeholders
- Turning operational issues into clear, prioritised actions
- Improving accountability, ownership and ways of working
- Working across people, systems, processes and governance

You’ll need to be commercially minded, pragmatic and hands-on, with the judgement to distinguish between issues that need immediate attention and those that can wait. The successful consultant will provide senior expertise and implementation support while working alongside the existing Operations function, not taking over routine operational ownership.
