Reporting to: Head Coach (Tom Craig)

Location: The Kestrel Centre, Brackmills, Northampton, Northants, NN4 7EX (plus local travel as required)

Contract and hours: Freelance

Salary: TBC

Weekend working: YES

Role purpose

To support the ongoing Coaching programme & development @ Padel Social House, delivering outstanding coaching and an engaging, varied weekly programme that grows participation, court utilisation and community connections. The Padel Coach will be the on-court leader, setting standards for session quality, player development and coaching culture, whilst supporting the wider club operation when coaching is not scheduled.

Role overview

Padel Social House are seeking a dynamic, sociable and experienced Freelance Padel Coach to support our inaugural club in Northampton from the pre-launch and beyond. Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our dynamic, highly-curated weekly timetable programme in tandem with the Head Coach, Tom Craig, and freelance Padel coaches too. This broad, dynamic role involves ensuring the smooth running of the club and delivering exceptional experiences for all visitors to the facility of the Home of Midlands Padel!

This is a hands-on role in a high-energy, start-up environment. When there is no coaching session to lead, you will be expected to support the Head Coach planning holiday camps & revised timetable sessions etc.

Key responsibilities

Coaching delivery and player development

  • Deliver high-quality private and group coaching sessions for players of all levels, with an initial focus on beginner and intermediate levels.
  • Run introductory sessions, social matchplays and skill clinics that build confidence and increase court utilisation.
  • Set and maintain clear coaching standards (session structure, safety, progression, feedback and customer care).

Coaching Timetable support (approx 2 hours per week)

  • Support the weekly coaching + programme timetable, ensuring the right mix of sessions by level and time of day, and adjusting dynamically based on demand.
  • Proactively develop new session ideas and formats by learning from the national and international padel scene (events, visiting coaches, content, best practice).
  • Plan and deliver programmes and weekend intensives that maximise participation and revenue whilst protecting quality in a safeguarded compliant environment especially for Children.
  • Coordinate any additional (freelance) Coaches (as the club scales pending demand + additional sites), ensuring consistent delivery standards and excellent communication.

Community, leagues, events and partnerships

  • Support club leagues, internal & external tournaments (as the main POC) and regular events + watch parties (World Cup, F1 Grand Prixes, Wimbledon) that strengthens community and retention.
  • Support corporate coaching and group experiences, ensuring an excellent on-court product and smooth event delivery including introductory briefings.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on Junior coaching and potential school partnerships.

Operational Support And Guest Experience

  • Support the General Manager with day-to-day club operations, including court readiness, safety checks and presentation standards.
  • When there is no coaching booked in, provide proactive support to Club Host (FOH) team on reception, the club shop, the Players Lounge and the cafe (including check-ins, enquiries and customer support).
  • Help manage bookings, payment processing and member registrations using the club’s booking and POS systems.
  • Act as an on-shift floor presence during busy periods or events, ensuring smooth transitions between bookings, classes and social sessions.

Health and safety

  • Contribute to a safe environment for all guests and staff, following club policies and procedures at all times.
  • Support the upkeep of site-specific risk assessments and help ensure any incidents, near misses and actions are recorded and followed up promptly.
  • Champion safe coaching practices, including appropriate warm-ups, safe use of equipment and clear on-court supervision.

Qualifications

Essential requirements

  • LTA Padel Instructor qualification (or equivalent padel coaching certification) Level 1 or Level 2.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Experience

  • Proven experience delivering 1:1 and group padel (or racket sport) coaching sessions.
  • Experience building and managing a coaching timetable or programme, with a strong understanding of session design and progression.
  • Strong hospitality mindset: confident engaging with guests and creating a welcoming, inclusive club atmosphere.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high personal ownership and initiative.

Skills And Behaviours

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and motivate a wide range of players.
  • Highly organised and proactive, able to plan ahead whilst staying responsive day to day.
  • Commercial awareness, with a focus on court utilisation, repeat visits and value for members.
  • Team player, willing to roll up sleeves across the wider club operation when required.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset and desire to learn, develop and share best practice.

Desirable

  • Driving licence.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • IOSH or other health and safety qualification.
  • Playtomic Manager (or similar booking platform) knowledge.
  • Access to a network of qualified padel coaches and wider industry contacts.
