£50–£70 per hour | Remote working/Hybrid | Cardiff-based property company | Ongoing consultancy work

We are an established Cardiff-based property company seeking an experienced freelance or consultant solicitor to assist with an existing and ongoing caseload across property, landlord and tenant, contractual disputes and civil litigation.

We currently have a number of live matters ready to progress and are looking to build a long-term working relationship with a solicitor who is commercially minded, responsive and comfortable managing matters independently.

Although we are based in Cardiff, regular office attendance is not required. We are happy to work remotely with the right solicitor and welcome applications from candidates throughout England and Wales.

Current Work

Our present and anticipated instructions include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and advising on commercial and residential leases
  • Commercial and residential landlord and tenant matters
  • Possession proceedings and tenant evictions
  • Pursuing unpaid legal insurance claims where insurers or providers have failed to respond
  • Commercial contractual disputes
  • A claim against a property management company arising from an alleged failure to provide contracted services
  • Enforcement of a deed of guarantee
  • Enforcement of court judgments and recovery of judgment debts
  • Claims relating to building contractors, including delay and failure to complete works
  • General property-related litigation and enforcement matters

Applicants do not need to have experience in every area listed above. We are particularly interested in solicitors with strong experience in property, landlord and tenant work and/or civil/commercial litigation, and instructions can be allocated according to your particular expertise.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We are looking for a solicitor who:

  • Is qualified to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales
  • Ideally has 3+ years' PQE, although applications from candidates with strong relevant experience at other PQE levels will be considered

  • Can take ownership of matters and progress them with minimal supervision
  • Is commercially minded and able to give clear, practical advice
  • Communicates promptly and reliably
  • Meets agreed deadlines
  • Is comfortable working independently on a freelance or consultancy basis

Experience acting for property investors, landlords or property companies would be particularly useful but is not essential.

Working Arrangement

This is an ongoing freelance/consultancy opportunity rather than a salaried employed position.

Work will be instructed on a matter-by-matter basis. We already have several live matters requiring assistance and anticipate providing further instructions on an ongoing basis to the right solicitor.

We are open to working with appropriately qualified self-employed consultant solicitors and solicitors practising through their own firm or other suitable regulated arrangement.
