The role
As a rehabilitation assistant you would deliver programmes set by our occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists, working with people in their own homes. You are not designing the programme, and you are not expected to. You are the person who makes it happen consistently, notices what is changing, and feeds that back so the therapist can adjust.
This suits people who have worked as therapy assistants, therapy technicians, or in a neuro rehabilitation unit, and who want to keep that hands-on rehabilitation work outside a hospital setting.
What the work can involve
- Delivering exercise, mobility and functional practice programmes written by a therapist
- Supporting practice of daily activities such as kitchen tasks, dressing and getting out of the house
- Applying communication strategies set by a speech and language therapist
- Encouraging repetition and pacing at a level that suits the person on the day
- Recording what was done, what was achieved and what was harder, in a form the therapist can use
- Raising changes, concerns or safeguarding issues promptly through the operations team
- Working to goals the person has chosen, rather than a standard checklist

What this role is not
You would not be setting therapy goals, changing a programme on your own judgement, or giving clinical advice. Where something needs a clinical decision, it goes back to the therapist who wrote the programme, or to the person's GP or care team.
The associate arrangement
- You set your own rates and the area you are willing to cover, and you choose your own hours.
- Clients and referrers can find your profile by availability and location and book a free 15-minute video meet and greet with you.
- A central operations team manages enquiries, coordination and safeguarding escalation.

Requirements
- Experience as a rehabilitation assistant, therapy assistant, therapy technician or in a comparable role
- Willingness to work to a programme set by a registered therapist and to work within that scope
- Enhanced DBS certificate
- Professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance
- Appropriate business car insurance when supporting clients using your own vehicle
- No professional registration is required for this role
