DARKODE GLOBAL | UK / Remote | Part-time / Flexible

DARKODE STUDIOS is an independent UK film production company developing and producing commercially driven, internationally focused films.

DARKODE GLOBAL is being established to take those films beyond production and into the international marketplace — through sales, licensing and distribution across theatrical, streaming, digital, television, physical and festival channels.

We are now looking for an experienced Sales & Distribution Executive to join us at this early stage and help build the division from the ground up.

THE ROLE

This is initially a freelance, part-time and flexible position, suitable for an experienced industry professional who may also have other professional commitments.

We are not looking for someone who simply understands film distribution in theory.

We are looking for someone who knows the market, knows the business and knows the people.

The ideal candidate will bring established relationships with relevant buyers, distributors, sales agents, platforms, broadcasters and other industry partners, together with a proven track record in selling, licensing or distributing independent films.

Working closely with the founder of DARKODE STUDIOS, you will help shape DARKODE GLOBAL's commercial strategy and establish the relationships and infrastructure required to develop it into a functioning international sales and distribution operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement sales and distribution strategies for DARKODE GLOBAL's slate.
  • Identify and approach suitable international buyers, distributors, sales agents, platforms, broadcasters and licensing partners.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful industry relationships across relevant territories.
  • Identify appropriate markets, territories and release opportunities for individual titles.
  • Lead or support commercial negotiations for sales, licensing and distribution agreements.
  • Advise on rights, territories, exclusivity, terms and commercial positioning.
  • Assess incoming sales and distribution opportunities.
  • Advise DARKODE STUDIOS on distribution considerations during development and production where appropriate.
  • Explore theatrical, TVOD, SVOD, AVOD, FAST, television, physical and other relevant exploitation opportunities.
  • Represent DARKODE GLOBAL at appropriate film markets, festivals and industry events where commercially justified.
  • Help establish and maintain DARKODE GLOBAL's professional buyer and partner network.
  • Work alongside external legal, delivery, localisation, QC and other specialists when required.
  • Provide commercial insight and regular recommendations as the division develops.
  • Contribute to building DARKODE GLOBAL into a sustainable independent sales and distribution business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You should have demonstrable professional experience in film sales and/or distribution.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of selling, licensing or distributing independent films.
  • Existing relationships with distributors, buyers, sales agents, platforms, broadcasters or other relevant industry contacts.
  • Experience taking films to market and negotiating commercial opportunities.
  • A strong understanding of international film rights and territory-based licensing.
  • Knowledge of international film markets and festivals.
  • An understanding of contemporary digital distribution.
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.

  • A genuine interest in building something rather than simply operating within an existing structure.

Experience with independent genre film — particularly horror, thriller or commercially driven cinema — would be advantageous.

Most importantly, we want someone who can bring real industry relationships and real-world experience to DARKODE GLOBAL.

THE STRUCTURE

This is initially a freelance, part-time and flexible engagement.

As DARKODE GLOBAL is a newly established division, the initial compensation structure will be performance and revenue based, with an agreed commission relating to qualifying sales and distribution revenue generated through the executive's work.

A performance-driven annual bonus structure may also apply, subject to agreed objectives and the development of the division.

The precise structure will be agreed with the successful candidate.

As DARKODE GLOBAL grows, there is the opportunity for this role to develop into a formal Head of Distribution position with an expanded remit and compensation structure.

WHY JOIN DARKODE GLOBAL?

You would be joining at the beginning.

This is an opportunity to have a genuine influence over how a new independent sales and distribution operation is built — from its commercial strategy and industry relationships to the way individual films are taken to market.

We are looking for someone who wants to help build something long-term.

Someone who can look at a film and understand not only whether it can be sold, but where, to whom, how and when it should be sold.

TO APPLY

Please send a CV or professional profile together with a brief introduction covering:

  • Your experience in film sales and distribution.
  • Examples of films you have personally sold, licensed or distributed.
  • The territories, buyers, distributors, platforms or other industry relationships relevant to your experience.
  • Your preferred freelance working arrangement.
  • Your expectations regarding commission/revenue participation.

Please also tell us briefly why you are interested in helping build DARKODE GLOBAL and what you believe you could bring to the division.
