Freelance Software Tester with Smart TVs
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance Software Tester With Smart TVs based in the United Kingdom.
This is a flexible freelance opportunity for German-speaking testers interested in evaluating a new streaming platform before and after its launch in Austria. You will perform functional testing directly on supported Smart TVs and connected devices, helping identify issues that could affect the user experience. The work involves executing structured test cases, checking playback and navigation, and documenting defects clearly. You can choose when to work around your other commitments, with testing expected to range from approximately 2 to 10 hours depending on the test run. Previous software testing experience is welcome, but it is not required, with free training available for newcomers. The project includes intensive pre-launch testing, launch-day validation, and recurring weekly testing opportunities.
Accountabilities:
- Install the streaming application build on supported Smart TV and connected devices using the provided instructions.
- Execute functional test cases covering playback, navigation, and core application functionality.
- Test the platform across supported devices, including Samsung Tizen TVs, LG TVs, Hisense TVs, Apple TV, and Xbox, alongside a laptop, PC, or MacBook for accessing testing tasks.
- Identify and document software defects using the designated defect-tracking platform.
- Provide clear reproduction steps, screenshots, screen recordings, and other relevant evidence when reporting issues.
- Provide structured feedback on defects and the overall user experience during each testing run.
- Complete required preparation and account setup activities before beginning assigned testing tasks.
- Participate in pre-launch testing, launch testing around September 30, and ongoing weekly test runs as available.
- Follow provided testing instructions, materials, and test cases to ensure consistent and reliable results.
- Manage testing assignments independently while meeting the requirements and timelines of each test run.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
