Freelance SVQ Workplace Assessor - Social Services Children and Young People | Central Belt of Scotland
Essor Training is looking for experienced Freelance Workplace Assessors to join our growing team.
Are you an experienced assessor with a background in Social Services Children and Young People?
Would you like the flexibility of freelance work while supporting individuals to achieve nationally recognised qualifications in their workplace?

About the Role
As a Freelance Workplace Assessor, you will support candidates working towards their qualifications within the Social Services Children and Young People sector. You will work directly with candidates in their workplace, providing professional guidance, assessment, and feedback to help them develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence.
The role will involve:
- Supporting candidates throughout their qualification journey
- Planning and carrying out workplace assessments
- Observing candidates in practice and gathering appropriate assessment evidence
- Providing constructive feedback and professional guidance
- Supporting candidates to build portfolios of evidence
- Maintaining accurate assessment records
- Working collaboratively with candidates, workplace mentors, and the Essor Training team
- Ensuring assessment decisions are fair, consistent, and in line with qualification and awarding body requirements
- Supporting candidates to achieve their qualifications within agreed timescales
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has current or recent experience within Social Services Children and Young People
- Has experience supporting, mentoring, or developing others within the sector
- Has a strong understanding of workplace practice and the skills required within the sector
- Is confident communicating with learners, employers, and workplace mentors
- Is reliable, professional, and able to work independently
- Is passionate about supporting learners to achieve their potential
- Has a commitment to high-quality training, assessment, and learner support

Do you have strong sector experience but don't currently hold an assessor qualification? We would still love to hear from you.
We recognise that excellent workplace assessors bring valuable knowledge and experience from the sector. If you have the right sector experience and are willing to complete an appropriate assessor qualification with Essor Training, we would be happy to consider your application. We can support the right candidate to develop their assessment skills and gain the qualification needed to progress into workplace assessment.
For applicants who already hold an appropriate assessor qualification, such as L&D9DI or an equivalent, previous experience assessing candidates in the workplace and/or SVQs in Social Services Children and Young People would be highly desirable.
