About the role

HebHomes is looking for an experienced Freelance Architectural Technician / Draftsperson to support our team with the preparation and development of our construction detail packages on Autodesk Revit.

This is a hands-on technical role working closely as part of the HebHomes technical team. You won't be expected to provide architectural services independently to our clients; instead, you'll be helping us develop our construction details and technical information.

You'll be briefed on our process for detailing and then assist the rollout of our new library of details offered across the range.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and developing standard construction details, including:

  • Working from our existing construction details and technical information.
  • Populating the keynote file.
  • Running existing Dynamo scripts.
  • Working within HebHomes' existing systems, standards and drawing conventions.
  • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail and technical accuracy.

All work produced will be reviewed and approved by HebHomes before it is issued, and HebHomes will retain responsibility for the final information issued.

Your experience

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, detail-focused and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with an established team.

You'll need:

  • Proven experience as an Architectural Technician, Architectural Technologist or similar technical role in an Autodesk Revit environment.
  • Strong technical drawing and detailing skills.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, materials and building details.
  • Experience producing professional construction/detail drawings.
  • The ability to understand and work within an existing technical standard rather than starting from scratch.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • The ability to work efficiently and meet agreed deadlines.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Experience in residential construction and timber-frame or similar construction methods would be particularly useful, although we're more interested in your technical ability and attention to detail.

How the freelance arrangement will work

This is a freelance consultancy position, rather than an employed role.

We anticipate approximately 2–3 days per week for the initial three-month appointment. Days can be agreed flexibly according to our workload and your availability.

Following the initial three months, there may be opportunities for ad-hoc ongoing work.

You'll remain free to undertake work for other clients.

The agreed day rate will be £200–£250 per day, with days worked invoiced to HebHomes, normally on a monthly basis. As this is a freelance engagement, there is no holiday pay, sick pay, pension or other employee benefits.

Consultancy agreement

The successful candidate will be engaged under a short consultancy agreement setting out the agreed scope of work, fees, working arrangements, confidentiality, intellectual property, data security and other relevant terms.

Working from our office

We'd like you to work from the HebHomes office for at least some of your agreed days. We are located on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow with public transport links.

This is important because you'll be working closely with our team and will need to develop a good understanding of our existing construction details, standards and way of working.

We'll agree the appropriate balance of office-based and remote working with the successful candidate.

You'll ideally provide your own laptop and equipment, although we can provide a laptop if required. HebHomes will provide the necessary access, licences and project information needed to carry out the work.

Confidentiality, intellectual property & data security

You'll have access to proprietary HebHomes construction details, drawings, systems and potentially confidential client and project information.

You'll therefore be required to:

  • Keep all HebHomes and client information strictly confidential.
  • Comply with our data-security and information-handling requirements.
  • Properly protect any HebHomes or client information held on your own equipment.
  • Not share or use confidential information for any purpose outside the agreed commission.

All drawings, details, documents and other intellectual property created specifically for HebHomes as part of the consultancy will belong to HebHomes, subject to the terms of the consultancy agreement.

To apply

If you're an experienced Architectural Technician who enjoys getting into the detail and would like to work with a design-led housebuilding team on a flexible freelance basis, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send a CV, a brief introduction and examples of relevant technical/detailing work to mia@hebhomes.com
