Purpose

This Freelance role is to support one of our studios on a high-profile print / digital project.

  • These roles would require you to hold or be able to achieve HM Government Security Clearance, which we can assist with if not currently held
  • Being resident in the UK for the last 5 years will be required
  • There is a requirement for both day and / or night 12-hour shifts in our Bishopsgate (London) studio for this project
  • Please state an hourly (not day) rate when asked on the application form

Key responsibilities

  • Working from hardcopy with handwritten amendments
  • Making amends from hardcopy, strong attention to detail and spelling accuracy
  • Styling new sections quickly and accurately within InDesign templates
  • Strong typography skills in InDesign with a strong attention to detail
  • Creation / amendment of charts in Illustrator
  • Full responsibility of quality checking your own work as well as others
  • As part of a larger team on the project, you need to work as a team and communicate well

Knowledge, skills + experience

  • Strong typography skills in InDesign with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience in fast-paced studio environment
  • Detail-orientated and proactive in seeking out and correcting any errors in your work
  • You are easy-going, able to multi-task, deal with multiple rounds of: edits, amends, scrapping things and starting over
  • Flexibility and adaptability to quickly changing priorities and tasks
  • Good professional knowledge of working with documents for commercial litho printing
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with proofreaders’ marks is a plus
  • Experience in working from Word and Excel files
  • Skilled in working within InDesign templates – using pre-made paragraph styles and character styles consistently
  • Use of table and cell styles, creation and updating tables from Excel files
  • Knowledge of creating / working with hyperlinks and footnotes
  • Creating / amending Illustrator charts from data in Excel quickly and efficiently (Illustrator templates will be supplied to ensure consistency of size, fonts and colors used)
