Independent Dance Film Project
An independent dance artist based in East Sussex is seeking a skilled filmmaker to shoot and edit a 4–5 minute artistic dance film. The project will blend Thai classical dance, Thai puppetry, Muay Thai, and ballet, culminating in a contemporary section that unites these influences. The vision is for a cinematic, visually expressive film that uses close-ups, varied camera angles, movement through the frame, and creative editing to create an intimate and choreographed experience, rather than a straightforward documentation of a stage performance.
Deliverables
- Film and edit a 4–5 minute dance film in Eastbourne or Brighton on one of the following dates: 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, or 23 September 2026
- Capture cinematic footage with close-ups, dynamic camera movement, and varied angles
- Provide a first edit by 24–25 September 2026
- Complete one round of revisions based on feedback
- Deliver the final edited film by 27 September 2026
- Supply usable raw footage if possible

Requirements
- Proven experience in filming and editing dance, performance, or artistic short films
- Strong portfolio demonstrating cinematic camera work and creative editing
- Ability to travel to Eastbourne or Brighton for the shoot
- Proficiency with professional video equipment and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with artists
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Interest in or sensitivity to diverse dance forms and cultural storytelling is a plus
