Betty and the Brands | Brighton

We're looking for a creative, stylish and experienced Visual Merchandiser to work with us at Betty and the Brands in the heart of Brighton's Lanes.

Betty and the Brands is an independent fashion and lifestyle boutique showcasing the work of 40+ independent artists and designers, alongside our own collections. Because we bring together such a diverse mix of fashion, jewellery, accessories, artwork and homeware, we're looking for someone with a really strong creative eye who can see how it can all work together.

We're looking for someone who can come into the shop, look at what we have, understand the different designers and their individual styles, and create something beautiful, exciting and completely Betty.

What you'll be doing

  • Creating amazing and eye-catching window displays
  • Styling mannequins and outfits
  • Bringing different designers and products together in interesting ways
  • Refreshing and re-merchandising areas of the shop
  • Creating seasonal displays and styling the shop for Christmas and other special occasions
  • Creating new visual stories when new collections and designers arrive
  • Looking at the shop as a whole and knowing what needs moving, changing or restyling

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We're not looking for someone to follow a standard visual merchandising formula. We want someone with their own style, creativity and artistic flair who can understand the aesthetic of Betty and the individual character of the artists and designers we work with — and then bring it all together in a way that feels eclectic, beautiful, considered and full of personality.

About you

You might already work as a Visual Merchandiser, but you could also come from fashion styling, window dressing, interiors, set design or another creative background. What's most important is that you have experience, an exceptional eye and a portfolio that shows what you can do. You need to be comfortable working independently and taking an idea from concept to finished display.

Freelance

This is a freelance opportunity in Brighton, and we're flexible about how we work together. It could be regular visual merchandising, monthly shop refreshes, seasonal changes, Christmas displays or larger projects throughout the year. There may also be opportunities for additional freelance shop-floor shifts if you'd like to combine the two.

Interested?

We'd love to see your work. Please get in touch with your CV and, most importantly, your portfolio, website or Instagram showing examples of your visual merchandising, styling or creative work.

If you've been born with style, have an exceptional creative eye, and are the kind of person who walks into a shop and immediately starts thinking about how you'd make it look amazing… we'd love to hear from you. ✨
