The Haud is a curated marketplace for British craft, working with makers who practise traditional and endangered skills, including crafts on the Red List of Endangered Crafts. Alongside the shop, we publish a journal of maker features, craft explainers and story-led pieces.
We're commissioning freelance writers on a per-piece basis as the journal grows. The work is maker features, craft explainers and story-led pieces. We provide reference links, images and an SEO template, and for some pieces we can arrange a short interview with a maker, with travel covered if you visit in person.

Payment

Requirements
No AI, and we mean it. Every piece must be written by you. We commission human writers for a genuine, distinctive voice; AI-generated submissions won't be accepted. A strong voice matters to us far more than a polished CV.

We're after writers with a real feel for craft, heritage or storytelling. Interviewing, transcribing or SEO experience is a bonus, not a requirement; we'll provide the tools. This is entry-level, so students and emerging writers are very welcome.
